He is a life member of the Society of Industrial and Office Realtors (SIOR). A member of the National Association of Industrial-Office Properties (NAIOP) and presently serves on the National Forum of NAIOP representing the Metro Atlanta Area. He was also the past president of the Touchdown Club of Atlanta and past director of the Downtown YMCA.

He is a graduate of the University of Georgia where he played football on the 1968 SEC Championship team. He and his wife Mary Beth reside in Atlanta and have three children and three grandchildren.
